Save the date for SYNERGY XI Conference, March 23-25, 2015 in Greenville, NC.  This event will be held at the Greenville Convention Center.

NC CAP’s annual SYNERGY conference brings together afterschool and expanded learning providers and supporters for training and sharing of best practices.  NC CAP serves as the comprehensive, statewide network of afterschool stakeholders in North Carolina, bringing state agencies, state and local policymakers, afterschool providers and the private sector together to increase access to high quality afterschool programs for all children and youth in North Carolina.

Hotel Information

For the first time NC CAP will be hosting the Synergy Conference in the city of Greenville. A special block of rooms at the rate of $120 per night is now available for those attending the conference. To reserve a room, please call the Hilton Greenville at (252) 353-3044 or to register online CLICK HERE  special code is "PSF". If you are making your reservation over the phone, please mention PSF (Synergy 2015) in order to recieve the discounted rate. Be sure to reserve your room by February 20, 2015 !!!

NC CAP is currently accepting Requests For Proposals (CLICK HERE) for Session presenters until December 19, 2014.  SYNERGY Sessions are formatted for either 45 minutes or 75 minutes. Hurry and submit your RFP to present !!!

 

VENDOR APPLICATION & REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

NC CAP is also accepting both vendor applications and vendor request for proposals for the SYNERGY conference. Vendor application are available on a rolling basis; however, vendor request for proposals are due January 17th, 2015. 2015 Keynote Speaker

NC CAP is proud to announce that the 2015 Synergy keynote speaker will be 2014 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year and 2014 Charlotte Mecklenburg Teacher of the Year, James E. Ford.  James is a ninth-grade World History teacher at Garinger High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.  James began his teaching career in Rockford Public Schools in Rockford, Illinois.  He worked as a truancy intervention specialist in high schools.  Before becoming a classroom teacher, he was director of a teen center that provided educational and afterschool activities for youth at risk of dropping out of school. He has been a teacher in Charlotte since 2010.  He considers his work to be his "life-calling" and has dedicated himself to serving his community through education. He brings energy, enthusiam, and much information that will be beneficial for educators, as well as the afterschool and expanded learning community!

SYNERGY 2014 registration is now open!  Conference registration includes all workshops, conference meals and receptions, as well as free wifi internet in your hotel room.

Registration fees are as follows:
December 12 - January 15: Early Bird Registration ($140)
January 16 - March 14: General Registration ($165)
After March 15th: On-Site Registration ($210)

NORTH CAROLINA STATE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE application

The NC CAP Leadership Institute is a collaborative program created by the North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs (NC CAP), the Family Life and Youth Development graduate programs, and the NC Afterschool Professional Development Work Group.  The Leadership Institute brings together our state’s leading afterschool providers to build a network that addresses the afterschool program issues of program and professional development, leadership, partnerships and collaboration, and advocacy.  This program aims to enhance afterschool professionals’ abilities to manage and lead quality afterschool programs.

Prior to the 2014 SYNERGY conference, admitted participants will engage in 10 hours of dedicated program development seminars and workshops.  Following SYNERGY, additional work beyond the conference includes an electronic program portfolio and scheduled virtual meetings about program research and progress (approximately 30 hours of work, including the portfolio, are due by December 2014).  4.0 CEUs will be given to participants who complete the entire program.  Mid-to-upper level career afterschool professionals with at least a bachelor’s degree are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications must be received by February 14, 2014 and applicants will be notified of their admittance to the program the week of February 21, 2014.

Cost of attendance is $310 ($175 for Leadership Institute and $140 for Synergy Registration). Two scholarships (see below) will be reserved for Leadership Institute participants.

The 10 hours of class prior to SYNERGY will be completed according to this schedule:
Sunday, March 23, 2014: 12pm - 6pm
Monday, March 24, 2014: 9am - 1 pm

SYnergy scholarship APPLICATION

NC CAP is pleased to be able to offer scholarships for SYNERGY participants to cover the conference registration fee. Interested parties can view both the scholarship criteria and scholarship application.  Scholarship applications are due February 1, 2014 and scholarship recipients will be notified after February 17, 2014.
